The author won't do us dirty, she will give us tons of steam in book 2 I bet, just with how her other books have panned out and this one being more than 50% in flashbacks as kids it makes sense.

I have become quite a fan of her after reading The Dancer and The Masks duet and now, finally learning about Cyn’s past who was an enthralling character in the that duet has been an exquisite experience. I was intrigued by the Deana-Dhe when I met them in the Academy of Stardom series and they were so aloof and mysterious but more dark and dangerous too. Cyn was so stoic in this story but you could tell there was this underlying fire as she waited for the guys to come around to what she already knew to be true: that she was theirs and they were hers. I don't think I could pick a favourite out of the three men, although I do love Lorcan's kindness to Cyn.Those glimpses into the past were really raw and messed up at times that I can see why all the reviews mention that this is a darker romance story. For me, Carrick was the tragic hero who I empathized with and knew that once he saw Cyn for two she was he would fall hard. I myself had a lot of trouble with that at the beginning because I was more interested in the present, and didn't find the chapters in the past interesting. I've read Bea's books and this series that can be read as stand a alone duet but I recommend reading , at least The Duet " The Dancer and the Masks before this one. I've been curious about the Deana-Dhe since Academy of Stardom, that I've been made up to finally have their story. Having us riding the wave from the many ups and downs they all travelled, filled with a lot of changes within emotions and feelings being discovered. One thing to add is just like with Their Obsessionduet, Bea had me falling hard for one in particular that being Lorcan.If I'm the apple they never wanted to take a bite out of, then they're the snakes willing to use me for their own gain. But they all waffle between that connection being cathartic or a threat- a delicate, fragile, and chaotic back and forth. Cyn's secrets are finally out in the open, the Deana-Dhe have to go to war, and the fireworks are going to go off with some reunions. However that didn’t mean everything was answered straight away, seeing as secrets were still being kept and mysteries were still to be unravelled. But after her debt is paid, will they be able to let her walk away or will they finally listen to their souls?
