About this deal

In the ruins of the Temple of Morkai, Grimnar's crew were ambushed by the leader of the Sea Devils, Thorgil Icetooth, and his Kraken Guard. In a matter of solar minutes the once-silent halls of the temple echoed with the sounds of battle. Thorgil and his hulking reavers overwhelmed the Iron Bloods until Grimnar alone, a gore-spattered axe in either hand, stood atop the altar to Morkai. This recognition brings with it many ancient responsibilities, such as constantly having to prove his right to lead, through both skill at arms and his leadership in battle. Logan Grimnar is not Chapter Master of the Space Wolves by virtue of inheritance; he has earned the right through strength, courage, wisdom and honour. The first hints of this greatness came during the Trial of Morkai, when Logan slew the ice troll Frostblood, a dread beast that had killed dozens of the Chapter's recruits. In a cave filled with the remains of Fenrisian warriors, Grimnar jammed a broken bone into Frostblood's eye, howling his rage into the beast's face even as its fangs savaged his arm. Unlike the Codex Astartes-compliant Chapters, the elite of the Space Wolves are not always chosen from those warriors who have served longest, or earned the title of Veteran. Rather, they are selected for their bravery and skill at arms, having drawn the attention of their lord through glorious deeds and unflinching loyalty.

This symbol is carried with honour by every Great Wolf. It represents the void-faring nature of the Chapter, who sail across the Sea of Stars as their ancestors once sailed across the seas of Fenris. As there was already mistrust and suspicion of the Space Wolves within the Imperial hierarchy over past disputes and the Space Wolves' habit of disregarding Imperial authority, Grimnar's demand seemed either naive or an excuse for a fight, while his manner was condescending towards the Inquisitors. However, in truth Grimnar was genuinely sympathetic to the Human element on Armageddon, and questioned the wisdom of saving a planet if its inhabitants and defenders would then have to be "processed" by the Inquisition for the sin of knowing about the existence of Chaos or the secret Imperial organisations arrayed against it. In this time the planet is remade anew, its Human tribes setting off in their longboats to find new homes so that they might survive for another Fenrisian year. From this harsh and brutal environment the Space Wolves recruit their battle-brothers. We are a small team of Warhammer Enthusiasts and miniature collectors, hoping to support and further promote the hobby. If the original rule had two separate effects, those rules have been reformatted so each individual effect is presented with its own bullet point. In all such instances, the effect of the rules remains unchanged; it is simply a style and formatting change to match how such rules are presented in other 9th edition publications.

Herald 140 points down from 145 which is all value at this point. He is definitely worth a look and slots into the new wolf theme list extremely well. You will see him in competitive play.

Here is where it hurts. Wolves lost the “Big Two” which almost every competitive list included either or both. Wulfen Stone and Armor of Russ are both gone, this is a really big blow to both the utility builds and the combat effective builds. Wulfen stone was a cornerstone relic used to buff up a smash captain or Wolf Priest, and Armor of Russ was just such a powerful tool to be walking around the table with. Losing both will hurt at least for the next few weeks. The Inquisition sought reinforcements, securing the support of the Red Hunters Chapter, amongst others. The Red Hunters joined Kysnaros' armada with their entire Chapter fleet and strength, including the massive battle barge In Sacred Trust, under the command of Chapter Master Daemar. Kysnaros had sought the support of the Red Hunters, a Chapter that traditionally aligned itself with the Inquisition, as proof that the Space Wolves did not represent all the Adeptus Astartes of the Imperium -- but also because he was unsure of the Grey Knights, some of whom were surreptitiously ignoring the developing campaign and were slow to join it. Grimnar ultimately was stranded upon Midgardia, but was saved by Egil Iron Wolf shortly before its doom was unleashed by the will of the Daemon Primarch of the Thousand Sons Legion, Magnus the Red. Harold is being brought into the light of day for the first time in many editions. He benefits from the same buff that Logan did which is gaining Swift Hunters allowing him to advance and charge now. He benefits from the storm shield change against low AP single damage fire as his base save is now 2+ and Mantle of the Troll King now reduces damage by 1 to a minimum of 1 which really helps vs all of the flat 2 damage weapons floating around. He loses Expert Hunter but gains Outflank which is slightly worse but still nice to be able to outflank him if someone felt the need. With Ragnar suffering from needing a ride and Impulsors taking several nerfs, Harold is really looking like a good stand-in. He has a lot of potential if you find Santa just is not working out for you. Canis Wolfborn All of this adds up to a massive hit to our little werewolves. Combine this with the loss of several combat stratagems, the loss of any aura support and finally the loss of Bounding Lope means these guys are completely dead. Do not worry though, a new option rises up to fill the role. Unique Dreadnoughts

Bjorn 175 points down from 190 but he benefits from upgrading his assault cannon to las or hellfrost as both of those got considerably cheaper. He lost his free CP so its nice to see him drop in points but he still just does not do anything of real value in a competitive wolves list. Wolf Guard battle leader on Thunderwolf 95 up from 90 which is great value for what you get, the shield went up and the hammer wen Soon, the first such transport, the Trident of Ilmatha, loaded mostly with defenders but also with civilians, was en route to the Armageddon System's Mandeville Point, escorted by the Space Wolves frigate Runefyre. The ship never made the Warp jump, as its Warp-Drive was disabled by the Grey Knights frigate Karabela which then proceeded to scuttle the ship; there were no survivors among the Trident's 400,000 passengers.

Axe Morkai - This mighty weapon is borne into battle by the Great Wolf. The Axe Morkai is an ancient artefact, thrumming with the power of the Warp, a battlefield trophy taken from a defeated Chaos Champion by the Great Wolf himself. Grimnar had the Chapter's Iron Priests reforge the deadly axe into the likeness of the twin-headed Fenrisian wolf-god Morkai, the guardian of the gates of the afterlife in the myths of the people of the Space Wolves' homeworld, Fenris. Kysnaros was unarmed, yet he was a powerful psyker with telekinetic abilities. However, either he did not care to defend himself, or he did not have time to react given the Great Wolf's speed and ferocity, for Grimnar, in one swift move, unceremoniously decapitated the Inquisitor Lord.
