It is an important station where there is a large variability in the times that athletes complete it in. But, unlike with other stations where that applies, you can push yourself to your absolute limit to get them done because it’s the end of the race. This is where leaving something in the tank goes out the window – by the time you reach the wall balls your tank will likely be almost empty, and you should use the wall balls to fully empty it!HYROX is inspired by the seven basic movements the human body can perform: Pull, Push, Squat, Lunge, Hinge, Rotation and Gait . All 8 functional movements plus running have been carefully selected to challenge all human facets without requiring complicated technical training or skills. This is what makes HYROX as a race accessible and safe for Every Body. In terms of what sort of running workouts to do, a mixture of slow, steady state running (in heart rate zone 2), combined with other sessions of high speed, shorter distance, intervals, can normally work very well. You will also want to do some interval sessions at your expected race pace, especially as you get closer to the event. Exactly what, how often, and how far you run will depend on you, your history, and existing capabilities.

If you aren’t used to lots of running, it normally makes sense to increase the amount that you run gradually, as many running related injuries can be caused by running too much, too soon. You need to get your body used to pounding the pavement. HYROX is the ultimate showcase of functional fitness, putting all that work you do in the gym, at home or outdoors to the test. Each race starts with a 1km run, followed by 1 functional movement, which repeats x8 times.

For example, it takes people roughly four or five minutes to do the SkiErg section.
